A Story of Sleepless Nights

As you know, I inhabit a rural area and am habituated to the everyday lifeline of villagers of the surrounding locality. Most natives are farmers, fishermen, and boatmen, prominently working around my local area. I noticed those every day, as usual. They are not well-literate yet have vast, open minds like the sky. Their broad, childish smile can make a day for anyone.

Here, I want to tell you a story of the sleepless nights of fishermen that always tugs at my heartstrings. Watching the local fishermen on the riverside, I admire their unwavering dedication and relentless pursuit of their livelihood. Despite the challenges they face, including unpredictable weather and long hours away from their families, these rural fishermen embody the strength and resilience of the human spirit. They work tirelessly to provide food for their communities, never giving up in adversity. Their commitment and sacrifice are a testament to the power of human perseverance and the enduring importance of community.

Indian fisherman in the river expressionist minimalist painting
The Fisherman. Acrylic on canvas.

Usually, they start the journey at sunset, and after a struggleful sleepless night, they return home with a smile of hope and dreams that come true in our tasteful dish. Glancing at the stack of fish looks lovely to us, but from a fisherman's perspective, that stack is their overnight silver dream, smiling in the first sunshine of the morning. It's an upshot of their arduous journey for livelihood, a blessing of that Motherly River they spend on the lap every night.

The painting pursued the lifeline of our fisherman, as stated above.
